Regrouping after the battle of Yavin, the Rebel Alliance established Echo Base on planet Hoth. Fortified and well armed, Echo Base was a defensible position that Hoths heavy snowfall gave the converted Wampa den natural camouflage.

However, the Empires Probe Droid located Echo Base. The Empires attack was relentless and Echo Base would not hold. To keep the rebellion alive, the brave Echo Base defenders pushed back against the empire for as long as they could to insure as many Rebels could escape as possible.
