The North American F-100 series were the first supersonic jet fighters in the USAF arsenal. The F-100D was the most important version of the versatile fighter/bomber and in Vietnam proved to be excellent at both low level attack and top cover flying missions. Its maximum speed was 864 mph (1385 km/h) with a service ceiling of 45,000 feet (15,000 m) and a range of 1500 miles (2400 km). The LINDBERG F-100D Super Sabre model kit represents the "Pakokee Tiger" a member of the 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing, 30th Tactical Fighter Squadron and served at Bien Hoa Air Base during the Vietnam War
